MOS AND THE COMMUNITY
We are committed to helping UNICEF make a significant difference to the lives of the world’s most vulnerable children.
Every day 22,000 children will die from illnesses such as measles, diarrhoea and malaria. More than half of these deaths will result from preventable causes, malnutrition, poor hygiene and lack of access to safe water and adequate sanitation UNICEF saves more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organisation in the world.
UNICEF is helping to save and improve the lives of children in over 150 developing countries and territories.
UNICEF, the United Nations Children Fund, was founded over 60 years ago with a mission to advocate for the protection of children’s rights, to help meet their basic needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential.
UNICEF’s work focuses on several key areas including child survival and development, child protection, education and gender equality, HIV/AIDS and emergencies.
UNICEF’s unique position as a UN agency gives them the power to influence key stakeholders to create long-term, sustainable change and to reach children in need at a grass-roots level. However, UNICEF is not funded by the UN.
UNICEF rely on voluntary donations for their work with children.
